This game sounds goooood! Definitely gonna get it for PC :)
Pre-ordered game+season pass already, I've never got season pass for any game, and my last pre-order was tactics ogre on PSP.... so this is ranked fairly high on my "to-do" t
So, I played the original Ni No Kuni last year after hearing so much about it (mainly here), and I unfourtunately found it very underwhelming. The basic plot was fine and the whole asthetic was nice and all, but the whole tone all the characters had was just boring to me. And the game mechanics just seemed like a watered-down verson of Tales games meet Pokemon games. I'm typically not a fan of generic creature allies that can't influence anything outside of battles and game mechanics. I like JRPGs, but that game just really didn't do much for me.
So, I'm quite on the fence as to whether or not NNKII would be a good experience for me. I'm very glad to hear that they revamped the combat system, that sounds like a huge step forward. I still have little to no interest in the generic-creature gimmick. I can't trust ya'lls hype about that "charm" of this game mentioned in this video because that's exactly what everyone kept saying about the first game and it did very little for me. They still got that nice overall look down though, if anything, that part looks even better. The kingdom-building sounds like Bravely Default's Village building with that time gimmick, which is fine, except apartenly you have to physically go to the town every time(?), meh. The squad battles or whatever sound interesting with that all-to-familliar weapon-triangle (because hammers are nothing like axes! lol).
I think what it'll come down to is: Are the characters notably more interesting than the original game? If so, maybe I'll look into it.
