I'm fine with the base price of video games increasing, but only if it means no microtransactions. Taxing them up a notch for the "sake of mental health" is just stupid though, as it's implying that the games are a part of the problem. That, and the fact that basing the tax on age ratings would undoubtedly lead to stupid business practices to get lower ratings.
considering how much science the government is already ignoring this is hardly surprising. should they fix the error in their ways. nah double down and blame it on the fairies.
I am not opposed to the price of video games increasing, since it would mean more revenue to game developers and publishers. Multiple times it has been brought to my attention on The Know that video game prices haven't changed for years. I think it would be good for game prices to go up, so maybe not as many games would need to resort to micro-transactions or similar practices.
What I am against is the idea that video games need to be punished and the insinuation that they are the cause of these violent acts. The money going to mental health funding is a nice idea, but that can be accomplished without throwing the blame for such horrible acts on something that doesn't deserve it.
