How Ninja's Controversial Policy Affects Streamers

He’s not saying that the girls he games with will fall in love with him. He’s doesn’t want “ships” to become a thig for him. Look at Gavin Ryan and Meg. People make jokes about Ryan screwing meg all the time.

Conspiracy Theory Time. Ninja is tired of the fame and has made plenty of money, so now he's trying to get out of the main stream and just keep his dedicated fans with this stunt.

For me, the majority of my friends are ladies (it's a happenstance, not a goal), but when I stream, I try not to include them because I don't want my stream to be a rotating cycle of "who's featured this week?" which I guess it's sort of a similar schoolyard approach to the problem, but I respect my friends and I don't want to use them to promote myself and further my notoriety/fame. I also don't want to use my guy friends for the same reason so most of what I do is solo stuff, I want what I do to be about me. As such, my channel is very slow growth since I'm not getting many people coming in anyway, but I feel like it's growth because of what I've done as a person. It's still a short term fix for the overall problem. I've always had female friends when gaming and most of them have been pleasant and strictly friends, but it has happened where I've dated a couple of them so it's not unrealistic to say that flirting can happen, it's just normal to me for there to be women around when I game. There's a fairly equal representation of them on my friends list and in my groups when I hang out with people. I follow a lot of female streamers too so it's not strange to see them game and the policy of "I want to remain faithful" is kinda weak since most everyone I know is taken. It's rare to find anyone that's single these days (maybe that's just my friends tho), so they wouldn't flirt regardless. I understand that they can joke around and it's up to who they're with to be comfortable with that, I just don't see it as being a problem to differentiate where it's jokingly saying something for the sake of being funny vs actual flirting. As much as people scrutinize what you say and do, if there's nothing to hide, don't try to defend it. It'll go away on its own or people will get wrapped up in something and you just have to say "you're making something out of nothing" and move on. The more you defend what other people say or do, the more someone will look for what you're trying to hide, even if you're telling the truth and there's nothing being hidden. All you need to know is what their intentions are and how you want to handle it. If anyone else reads into it more and pulls out a different meaning, that's on them. I've meandered a bit so I'm not sure where I'm going with this now, but I agree, we should be past this already. This is a topic that's years overdue.

I honestly disagree with what you two are saying. When you really look at it he just doesn't want people to think he is cheating on his wife. We all know what happened to Dr. Disrespect. I don't see how that is a gender issue. I fell that sooner or later not dating a gender will become a gender issue lol. I really just thick people are making this out to be a bigger issue than it should be. It is not a "boy's only club" as brian said, it is just someone in the public eye taking extra precautions to not make his reputation, and his wife's reputation, diminish over one stream with a women. But that is just my opinion. I'm not telling people how to think, I just do not know how this is such a big issue. Just let the man do what he wants. And also before people right me off as some alt right republican, I am not. I am gay but also right leaning, which doesn't make me alt right automatically. We all know how the internet works. I'd like to hear other's opinions on this topic as well, if anyone bothered to read this. Also last thing, why is the games industry getting so political. This is video games! This isn't like abortion or health care. Can't we just chill and talk about fun games and what makes games good instead of being so political and showing biases, because we can always see biases as soon as someone starts to talk about this stuff. Again this is all my opinion and I'd like to hear others as well.

Wow did you guys completely miss the point he was making. It has absolutely nothing to do with his behavior or the women's behavior during the stream. It's the internet culture around whenever any male or female are friends and the things that tend to come from that. Not only do you have people making the videos about relationships that don't exist, you have 'concerned' fans that will contact significant others about it. It's incredibly hilarious that you guys pretend it's not a problem when you literally have two cases of it happening within your own company. Burnie complained on the podcast of people emailing, texting and calling his ex-wife when it became known he was dating ashley, and how much teasing does gavin deal with, both in achievement hunter proper (yes, i know it's part of the content but it's still an example and in fact glamorized the problem to an extent and the fans followed suit), because Meg and Ryan stream and did their show together. This is akin to actors that are careful about where they go when they go outside to avoid paparazzi. He's not wanting to subject his wife to one of the darker sides of the internet. This video was ridiculously tone deaf to what he was actually saying and what the actual issue is.

I think Philip Defranco gives a pretty good reason to sympathize with ninja, I mean even in the rt community people made assumptions about ryan and meg just because they hosted freeplay I bet some people didn't see it as a joke

Why does this even matter. When it comes down to it, its his stream and he can do what ever he wants with who ever he wants.

it is indirectly because of gender. the main cause of this controversy is from the internet in itself. and also the youtube algorithm, where the most clicks is the most money. that is why people make clickbate now

Ninja didn't say he was too attractive Ninja didn't say he couldn't control himself. he said internet will use it in a way he didn't want and he's avoiding the problem it'll cause. gossip sells. he didn't think his wife has an issue with him working with women. he's saving them both a headache.

Ninja in the end made the wrong choice here in this instance. Ninja is allowed to play and stream pretty much any game he wants. Ninja is allowed to be friends with who ever he wants. Ninja knows he is number one on twitch and that people will literally follow him and look up to him as a leader. Ninja is not allowed to claim his position is too big to stream with an another woman. Ninja dos not have to be friends with women but to say he cant stream with them because he respects his wife and click bait could drive gossip is lazy and hurtful to those who look up to him. It dos send a bad message to the young generation and just like how Brian brought up how Mike Pence cant eat dinner with another woman is unhealthy and sets bad divide. Its also a werid set of events. Ninja plays video games for a long time and eventually gets the largest following on twitch. Ninja plays with Drake and Travis Scott its super cool and everyones is so hype about it. Seeing a friendship your happy for and then later on you hear Ninja cant let other women in his streams its kind of a stab in the back. Like oh Drake can get people hyped and pumped but a woman cant be cool enough to be in ninjas streams or in his day to day life. Thats atleast what I see. Ninja might not have people spreading rumors that he might like someone but he will have people think that his principles are wrong because they 100% are in this case. Why would you want to limit yourself when you can stream with some amazing people like Elizabeth Warren or Simone Biles or Kyary Pamyu Pamyu. Again Ninja can be friends with whoever he wants and he could even only let his friends be on his streams. Though to say I dont want women in my streams because i respect my wife shows a bad example to even adults who treat women with less respect than men already and this only empowers there feelings in that respect. If ninja is afraid of what people say so much so that he wont stream with other women your going to get blow back and its well deserved. Gaming is supposed to be the place where it makes sense for a six person team of 4 girls and 2 boy vs 3 boys and 2 girls and one who non-binary in overwatch can be the championship that everyone is excited to go watch. Women can be allowed to play in the superbowl of any video game in my eyes because its not indicative that separating the genders would make it more fair. I think in the Olympics men and women should wrestle in their own categories. It should be separate there but in gaming it should not. There are not that many pro female gamers that play million dollar game and this dosen't help what ninja is saying. If this was the other way around and ninja was a girl and said boys are not allowed on her streams because she has a husband its still wrong because her channel is number one and it would still be a lame excuse to say its because im married. If ninja said I only let my friends on my streams thats one thing and that would be totally fine and nobody would be throwing shade. Saying no women are allowed my stream this is the boys room is wrong and deserves criticism.

Big Oof here on your part guys, speaking as a person who couldnt give a fuck about ninja I have to admire his reasoning and thought process here. The simple fact of the scenario is if he gives the internet and by extension his audience a micrometer they'll take a lightyear, this has happened countless times before on the internet before and has caused people and their families suffering,harrasment and abuse because of it. If anything could be taken form this is, it is the sympathy you have to have for this guy and his situation which must put such a strain on his relationship with his wife.
