why do they want to ban Australia from xbox live?
so basically cod is dead on xbox cuz 95-99% of their player base is gonna get banned on May 1st
I think the worst part about this is that it also applies to Skype. Don't use Skype as much anymore, but does this mean if I swear while on a call with my friend that I can get banned for 'offensive' language? And as you said in the video, just saying 'offensive' is too broad. England has similar laws (not specifically for online stuff) to the point where there's a risk you might get arrested for swearing in the streets. Because someone might get offended I guess? It does specify that you'll probably only be arrested for it if you swear in front of a Police officer (note: in front of, not to) but even still... (here's a link to the UK Police website about being arrested for swearing: https://www.askthe.police.uk/content/Q675.htm)
I think discriminatory stuff like racism, sexism etc are a given (to be regulated) but for anything that anyone deems to be offensive? WAY too vague. Hopefully this is a 'just in case' thing, for situations where they really need to ban someone so they pretty much always have a valid reason, and they don't plan on actually enforcing this. If they do, they'll be banning most of their customers across Xbox Live, Skype etc.
Just another thought as well, this could apply to more than just swearing. The famous 'git gud' line could be seen as offensive to some people. Could people really get banned for that?
(Sorry for the essay)
Dude please brush your teeth!
The Xbox issues is not the big deal here. It is Skype, Office, and their e-mail clients that are the big deal. Having a private chat on skype where you swear, talk in a risque manner, or get nude is a bannable offense. So no skype dates. Sending a nude selfie via e-mail and opening it via their e-mail client is a bannable offense. Writing a novel with fighting, cursing, or sex in it on office is a bannable offense. Searching for porn of Bing is a bannable offense (though I have no clue why you would use bing). The level of invasion of privacy is extreme. It also likely violates a lot of communications protections laws.
Oh good, regulation and censorship
