Sigh. Not to be that guy, but World War One was a *world* war. There were battles in Africa and the Middle East as well. And there are AAA scale games set in World War One, namely Verdun, on Steam, which is super fun. So a World War One game could work and be fun.
The Know Family? More like you ain't No Family :DDD
That description of a WW1 game is more or less my experience in all FPS games.
I'd love to see a steampunk style online shooter with the scale of battlefield games. Massive 64 player open maps with steampunk mechs and zeppelins....basically an online bioshock infinite in frostbite
It's really weird to hear the FH guys talk about how WW1 only happened in Europe, the week that Australia and New Zealand commemorate their invasion of Turkey (Monday the 25th was ANZAC day). Also a quick google tells me that multiple battles were fought in European colonies in Africa, leading to the deaths of hundreds and thousands of Africans. We have access to the world's knowledge at our fingertips, come on guys, you can do better than this.
Lawrence didn't know every detail of WWI, shame on who the fuck cares.
I was going to make a gangrene and mustard gas joke to point the excitement of WWI, but they did already. I'll have to do with charging across a minefield under machinegun fire while dodging artillery shells thrown by your team. Woo, World War I. So many ways to die for no reason.
Now that this is out of the way and I conveyed how nonplussed a WWI game would make me feel, my biggest hope for that game, or Titanfall 2, or really any shooty game, would be a complete and total lack of stats, unlocks and other nonsense.
Playing BF3 I started to feel insulted at some point after getting garbage ribbons and meaningless points. What am I, a flipping dog doing tricks? Or are we all idiots going "oh look game, I shot a mine, where's my reward?". Why yes, here's a ribbon. You also want a medal for taking two steps without tripping you nitwit?
Get everybody all the loadout options from the beginning. You don't pay 60 monies to play with the lame starting guns. If you want to fill random XP bars for no good reason it's fine but that should be an opt-in. To hell with faked progression, I just want the fun already.
:3 Everyone's nit-picking how WW1 wasn't only fought in Europe, while I just nit-pick how it wasn't Germany that started the war. (fyi it was Austria-Hungary and Russia)
It was actually Serbia, but everyone wanted it anyway.
true enough.
Um...there were many African fronts in WW1, a Middle Eastern theater, a Western, Eastern and Italian front not to mention the invasion of the Dardanelles in Turkey or the Pacific theatre.
huge star wars fan, and i mean i throw money at star wars like DiCaprio off a boat, and i'm planning on skipping battlefront 2, due to sw bf 1's lack of any story or single player campaign, a fractured player base with paid maps, limiting modes across all content to each DLC. and after battlefield 1's short and sweet campaign of 5 hours I've just lost all interest multiplayer focused games. same reason i didn't go for titanfall 2 the fact you can beat the story in 3h 13m (howlongtobeat.com) was a huge let down. maybe ill stop complaining once Andromeda comes out, i need more rpg's in my life.
