People are blowing this way out of proportion.
@Golladan They did, now it being removed somehow created a shitstorm even though it was broken anyway.
@Service2k0 I think that the reason it wasn't a bigger issue before was because people could resort to third party radar systems like pokevision to see what's in the area. Now that Niantic has removed their radar AND shut down third party apps, people are more upset
I just started playing Pokémon Go a few days ago so I haven't noticed the difference. The nearby window shows me if there's something nearby and if they're nearby they appear within or near the circle that identifies what I can interact with. Maybe it's just a result of me not playing the game when it was there.
It seems they failed to mention that the Pokemon jump around like crazy now and break out constantly. It shouldn't take 6 Pokeballs to catch a Pidgey.
ive been playing since launch in england and ive had that happen to me after 3 you should just give up and use great and ultra balls and razz berry's as much as you can for the pokemon you want
Only six? Lucky.
that's not new since the update though, I've had that issue since just after the tracker was broken. I'd use the razz berries but I happen to have the glitch where berries make your ball curve way off screen right as it's about to hit so berries are completely useless to me.
This must be a Twitter user issue... In a small town I still see the poke stops crowded throughout the day! I just started playing a week or so ago and the differences are un noticed to me o.o
im in a small town too, the reason theres still a fuck ton of people out side is because pokemon go is still the only real thing to actually do.
Literally the only thing that changed is that they stopped people from capitalizing in Pokemon GO's success. I'm in the Gus camp, using third party apps is basically cheating. Maybe, if there weren't so many people trying to make a quick buck by abusing the tracking function, it wouldn't have been removed. If tracking isn't reinstated after having bugs fixed, then the "companion apps" are entirely to blame. As for the people wanting there money back because the game changed, they can go fuck themselves. Refunds should be for legitimate problems like having data corrupted, not because you don't know how to manage your money.
The people asking for their money back are mostly people whose data were reset. I disagree that the third party apps are to blame for radar being removed because for the most part they were all free to use.
It is stupid that some people are just trying to get refunded though, thats why you dont spend money on apps that aren't fully functional ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
I don't know a SINGLE third party tracking app that wasn't completely free. "Quick buck" my ass.
many of the 3rd party apps had ads and encouraged you to 'go premium' by restricting features unless you turned on the ads or bought the'full version'
I don't know. I'm of the age that Pokemon just missed me as a kid so this is my first introduction to it and I think it's just fine. I go out there and either walk or ride my bike around and I'm catching Pokemon nonstop. I just do laps around all the Pokestops in my neighborhood and I get exercise...which is really the only reason I started playing this game in the first place. I'm lazy and I like video games so this kinda gives me that motivation to go out and be active when I get home from work. I also agree with Gus about third party apps being considered cheating. If the developers of the game didn't design or approve of these apps then they were never meant to be a part of the game.
*Tracking* was meant to be part of the game. The thirdparty apps were less intended as cheating than they were fanmade patches to keep the game functional. Nobody minded them being shut down...as long as Niantic fixed their own tracking first.
No one is denying that *tracking* is supposed to be part of the game. But when third parties develop software that uses game resources that they don't have authorization to use in the first place, that is cheating. Not to mention grounds for legal action by the developers. No matter what their "intentions" really are. That's how our legal system works. If everyone would just give them a minute to fix what's broken they'll bring the feature back. Just give them time to figure out what's wrong. I personally like the fact that I have to roam around to find them. It's getting me out of the house and being active, which is something that I've been putting off for a long time due to a lack of motivation. And if one that I need pops up randomly then great. If not then I keep moving. Everything is alright. The world will keep turning and the sun will still rise tomorrow.
I still play, fortunately I have not had my stuff erased (yet). I never wanted to meta game this to death anyways, I picked this up purely for the random chance of the game. With that said I still enjoy getting a good walk in, finding out locations I've never seen before. Thanks Ash and Gus for the report (..ahem, and all the writers and crew that run the know..)
I don't mind the update. Ash didn't have an app that tracked Pokemon, he just randomly encountered them.
He also didn't have to collect a hundred magikarp in order to evolve a single one into a Gyarados
-travels threw the forest- no pokemon -travels threw a cannon- no pokemon -walks down mainstreet- fucking shit tone of geodudes and weedles.
Love the Spaceballs references.
The game has basically become a reason for me to get in shape. If I can still hatch my eggs and pick up pokestops I'll probably keep playing the game.
No mention of the fact that the radius of your search was lowered from 100 m to 70 m, as well as the lowering of catch rates.
the change in radius means you lose 16,000 square meters of viewing distance, which means those nearby pokemon will require you to wander aimlessly further and longer......
And then just because why the fuck not, when you do trip over one out of sheer blind luck, it will just run away anyway.
oh and the jump/attack rates to get you to waste more pokeballs dont forget that.

You guys do know you left out the biggest part on how the refunds are occurring right? Niantics support email just responds with a "This is a unmonitered email" response and that is agaisnt both google and apples policy agreement. All support emails are required to be monitored. So if you email this to support they will issue a refund. Just emailing support that the game is broken won't get you a refund.
Thank you for contacting us at Support@Niantic.com you're fucked and no one will ever know.
There have been reports that if you take that up with Google Google will agree. I've seen people get full refunds through Google by pointing out in the help chat (vs email) that Niantic doesnt monitor their email.
