Whats everyone crying about. Its not Oculus fault the Australian currency is shite and that all Europeans have to pay VAT (value added tax) on top of the conversion rate. This is such a niche product and they cant price it regionally like big multinational companies like Samsung, Lg etc.
They are a big company though, they are owned by facebook.
I would give 3 didgeridoos and a wallaby for an occulus.
Honestly I thought that yall were in front of a green screen and taping Lawrence's segment separately for months after yall moved there haha. Seriously though, not gonna pay $600 for the Oculus. Might get the Gear VR since I have a S6. Realize performance it will be much less powerful, but if there's enough usage for it, $99 is much more reasonable.
The price for an Canadian like myself would be $853.58............ Fuck that shit
I was never going to wear that stupid thing on my face anyway. I dont use my 3D TV because wearing the glasses is fucking annoying. I have no interest in wearing one of those stupid looking headset, the looser factor is of the chart... Look at me I have VR... good for you, you fuckn wanker. After I have absolutely no interest in VR, I'm not sour or salty I just don't care. tried it 20 years ago wasn't impressed, and just because its smaller and prettier now it wont mean the experience is so amazing that i would want to use the device for an extended period, or more than a novelty gimmick and I'm still not going to sit/stand around tethered to some stupid box on my face.
Boy these grapes sure are tasty Mr. Fox.
Enjoy them grapes while you can... won't be long before China realises it's cheapre to ship this stuff to Australia than across the Typhoon ridden Pacific (blaim the shift of manufactoring to China and the rise of Global Warming for the typhoons... wait, weren't US businesses heavily in on both of those? (never mind all that burning crude oil in the wars in the Middle East...)
I don't know what it was like 20 years ago, but I can say for sure that it works like a charm now. I've had the chance to try one and yea, pretty hardcore stuff
Our currency is dollarydoos. Please be respectful of the wildlife. We won't hurt you, only make you drink with us till you collapse.
The main reason goods tend to cost more here in Oz is that our median wages are higher and we can afford more. Altering prices based on what someone can afford is called price discrimination by economists, and whether we like it or not you can't deny that it makes sense for a business to do it.
Last time I checked the average Ozzie wage was not twice the average USAian wage... not did Ozzies (or Kiwis for that matter) have twice as much disposable income... just sayin'.
Don't forget the exchange rate ups the price in Aus dollars as well.
Guys you are great. Don't worry, we wont kill you, just wound you from all the hugs, high fives, and rubbing of the rear end.
Interesting, it looks like the rift will cost roughly the same in New Zealand as it does in Aus. $699 NZ vs $649 Aus. Usually we end up paying about 20% more than Aussie.
The cheapest commercially sold PC in Australia (I could find) with the right specs for a Rift is around the high $1000 mark. Which is sold by Dick Smith Electronics. (Which is currently in Administration).
Remember my fellow Aussies in the comment section. Let's not forget the time someone made a petition to change our currency to dollarydoos and nearly got 100,000 signatures.
God bless our Isolated Land which is full of Old Politicians that use tax money to take 20min helicopter rides, Take their family on a first class flight and take their daughters to pop concerts.
So badly want to embrace the future, but alas have to let the tech pioneers eat the cost alone.
