Next Season
Uh, I got a Zelda WiiU for my GF and her family is racist against remotes, so I totally used the gamepad as a remote! It was actually a nice feature. You pick it up, get feedback from the gamepad that the system is booting, then switch to the correct input without having to rummage for, or in my case go out and buy, a tv remote.
So Nintendo has gotten board of controlling the handheld division of gaming(cellphones/tablets don't count) and finally wants to re-enter the console war. This could be interesting but I wonder if its too late for them to reenter the war. Nintendo has been out of the war for a few year and with Sony absolutely destroying sales and Microsoft considering going modular, they seem to be entering at a bad time. But based on this story we really don't know shit about what their doing. Sounds like their making a handheld cell phone/ console hybrid that's supposed to be way more powerful than an xbox one. I just want that super graphicy Zelda demo they released years ago in an actual game mode.
One thing I didn't see touched on in this video is the rumored cloud computing capabilities of the new system. Having the combined power of so many systems online but dormant could theoretically provide the power discussed in this leak, but I wonder how that could really shake down in practice.
Personally, I stream so much YouTube and RT that my household comes close to our bandwidth limit for the month, especially when the other gamer is at home on Destiny, so I can't imagine willingly letting a system stream its computing power and not hitting that bandwidth cap and slowing the connection down by day 20 or sooner of the "month".
