Next Season
I actually didn't buy needless games this year as i did in the past. i bought RE4 while it was on sale BEFORE the summer event. but that's all i purchased. there's just no games im interested in right now.
I got Transformers Devestation, and that was all. I still haven't played it
oh there were no Flash sales? i thought something was off, didnt realise it was such a big part missing. explains why i didnt spend any money this time though.
This was my first Steam sale. and I only bought games I had actually bought my new laptop for like EU4.
Great game, sir. Hope you enjoy the many many hours of world conquering.
I liked not waiting on the edge of my seat, or making sure I went to bed or woke up at a certain time every day to check the sales and see if something I really really REALLY wanted was on a flash sale... I didn't buy as many games, but I am certainly happy with the games I DID buy.
What Ashley said at the end is true. Some dev's said that they were concerned about people refunding games for bigger discounts. Valve, being a business that would surely know the implications of their new refund policy on sales, took the only course that made sense by removing the flash/daily sale elements. You'll notice the same thing for each sale since the policy was introduced.
I'd say they're not as good for the player since they're just using it as a means to pick up games they've been meaning to get around to at a price they're comfortable with spending, but then they never play it or they don't play it for long since the games they're looking into tend to be slightly older to really old games. Other than that, I think it's a good thing to have a balance between the devs making more and gamers getting a slightly less discounted game, but is still marked down significantly from retail. Not sure if that made sense, but it's the general point I'm going for
