The PS Vita was fragile. It didn't work anymore if you dropped it on your bed.
Not to mention with discs for gaming aren't necessary good for mobile gaming.
I still have the 1st nintendo DS and it still works.
I hope nintendo does well.
I love my handheld games as well Ashley and I have felt those cramps in my hands too.
Oh god, hand cramps from DS...
Anybody else ever play through Metroid Prime: Hunters for the first time in a single sitting? You want hand cramps, do THAT.
Also Guitar Hero: On Tour. LOTS of hand cramps there, and also possibly screen damage from strumming so much.
Disk for mobile gaming? I think you are thinking of the PSP. The Vita uses cards similar to the Nintendo. But yes, the PSP is very fragile. Vita is better but I would still handle it with care.
Oh right yes. Sorry about that.
Thank you.
Yeah, I'm inclined to agree. Literally, the ONLY reason I went and bought a 3DS was to get back into Pokemon back when X/Y came out, and Pokemon games (and Super Smash Bros) are literally the only games I have for it. If I could get the same Pokemon experience on my iPhone, my 3DS would literally be nothing more than an expensive paper weight.
Nintendo wins at handhelds. Sony does not. Their system had an absolutely pitiful lineup compared to the 3DS, honestly, it's no wonder they lost. Fact is, even if Nintendo's last console was a marketing disaster, their hold on handheld gaming has been solid for as long as handheld gaming has been a thing. The only thing capable of beating them at it is the cellphone. Though coming from the guy with a bulbasaur on his head I can see how I might possibly seem biased.
I'm totally biased.
Considering these are likely the same "analysts" that are predicting utterly preposterous market share for VR?
Yeah, don't take this analysis with a grain of salt, take it with an entire fucking SALT LICK.
"Take it with a grain of salt" is an idiom that means "be skeptical of this information." By saying that you should take it with an entire salt lick, rather than just a single grain of salt, I am exaggerating the idiom to imply that this should be treated with the same respect as the utterly preposterous forecasted numbers for VR market profitability. That is to say: no respect at all.
To reinforce my beliefs on this, I would ask you this question: have you ever played a fighting game, like Street Fighter, on mouse and keyboard? Probably not. It just doesn't work. Ever played a twinstick shooter on a touch screen? Possibly, and if you have you'll agree that it just doesn't work. Certain release platforms have built in, insurmountable barriers to certain forms of content, barriers that other platforms are lacking. This is why you will always find a market for console, PC, mobile, handheld, VR, and whatever the next great innovation we come up with will be. Markets may shrink, but they also have resurgences, and just because the handheld market is shrinking NOW doesn't mean it will continue to shrink in the future. The same can be said for growth.
Final note: successful CEOs of major corporations have been shown in numerous studies to have about 90-99% of the same personality traits as sociopaths, a neurotype that has been conclusively shown to be very, very bad at long-term planning and foresight. Any sort of slightly more than casual inspection of successful CEOs of major corporations throughout history quickly reveals they have that same exact shortcoming. Why, then, would anyone ever respect or value the long-term predictions of people who have shown time and time again to be extremely bad at making them?
Just some food for thought.
I was really just wondering because of the idiom. As an FYI, I believe it's meant to mean that the thing you should believe is relative to the minuscule size of the grain of salt. As in, the bigger it is, the more believable.
I'm really not trying to be a dick and correct you, I'm trying to help prevent awkward situations in future conversations. Some people might call me a hero. Most not.
Also, as far as predictions go in video games, I don't want to touch it. It's far too unpredictable. But I will say I'd not be surprised to see handheld gaming totally usurped by mobile gaming within a decade. That said, it's very possible that there's one smash game that reignites consumer interest, and thus developer interest, skyrocketing sales. I'm just here for the ride.
Nintendo Handhelds is the only console they've done right consistently. The third party support and lineup of games. They even mix together getting people to play together in real life and online. Some games only require one copy for local multiplayer. Also of course the PS executive would say that about handhelds consider they pretty much always lost to Nintendo in that regard haha
Nintendo could be failing. Does this make them Ninten-Dodo?
Well...no.
Shit piss fuck cunt cocksucker motherfucker tits fart turd twat, can this comment just get deleted?
Shut up.
you never needed to post yet you still did it
I owned a Vita and really liked it, I loved Gravity Rush and it is still one of the few games i actually finished then bought the DLC. The only reason i gave it up was because besides GR and Minecraft there really weren't any games to play. Now my 3ds is another story, usually i never bothered to play it because i never took it anywhere.
