I want to get a switch for Melee HD (possibly)
I don't think Nintendo has ever been about "how much power" it has. Its about the games.
Underpowered, not surprised. Nintendo's consoles are usually underpowered.
If a Nintendo console is ever not underpowered, then I speculate that I've stepped into an alternate dimension where everything is backwards. As for the Switch, I'm probably not getting it unless there are some great third party console exclusives, AND it has decent controls for said games. My main problem with Nintendo has been that while they have some good games, most of those are either Mario or Zelda, both of which I enjoy, but neither of which are even remotely console sellers for me. The only good third party support they've ever had has been on handheld, and even then it takes a few years before they get much worthwhile on handheld. I know that this new console is looking to be better third party enabled, but what will determine if it's a console worth picking up is whether or not any of those are exclusives, whether they're full game experiences rather than Nintendo-console spin offs, and most importantly, what said games are. Right now the only thing they have going for them in my books is the updated version of Pokemon Sun/Moon, and that's mostly in the hopes that they'll add in more post game content, (including bringing back triple battles), and not have any of the chugging that the game currently experiences on the older 3DSs. And frankly, while that is a point of interest for me, I don't buy a console unless there's more than just two or three games I want to play on it.....
power and graphics started becoming meaningless like a gen ago. It bewilders me how many BIG modern titles sacrifice functionality and stability just to get those higher resolutions and FPS's. The appeal of the switch is it's new physical functionality, and the expectation of Nintendo quality games that actually work right.
