They interupted me leveling my fishing NOT FUNNY XDD.
I wonder what is sooo fun about ddosing anyways. Just a group of people that need to get some attention once and a while or else they get the feeling they don't matter anymore.... grow up!
I was unable to login for about 20mins but that was it, I guess other people had worse DCs. If it was over the vanilla server getting taken down I understand being angry about having it taken away. Legacy servers have long been desired. But I can't feel sorry for people who try to ruin other people's games who had nothing to do with it.
I play Runescape all the time and I get logged out at least three times a day due to DDOS attacks.
As soon as I saw the title of it, I knew it had to be because of the vanilla server shutdown
DDoS actually does not always result in malware being installed on bystander computers, the most common use is by flooding the bandwitdth of the server so legitamit requests can not get processed, hence "denial of service". So while the hacking of Blizzard employees happened during the DDoS it was not caused by it, and tbe aim of most DDoS is to send servers illegitamiate requests causing them to be unable to process real requests, losing customers and money
DDoS is what happens on the RT site when a new episode of RWBY is released
in the 50s we were afraid of becoming the next clutter family. then we were afraid of the drug fiend. then it was the hitchhiker. then it became armed high school boys. the fear of the psychotic will always exist and it looks like these hackers are becoming the next group. meg said it herself, as a joke atleast 'dont hurt me, i'm scared of you'. RT is big enough that if these guys decided to get angry about something, they could easily find this and get angry about this and then they *could* hurt meg very easily.
we fantasize about some superman figure betraying his magnanimity, but in reality there needn't be any betraying, or indeed magnanimity, to worry about to begin with.
How eloquent.
Really there's nothing anyone can do to hurt Meg or anyone. All they can do is post personal information online, which in and of itself is harmless. It's what people do with that that's the problem. Thing is, not many people are as psychotic as the "Squatters"
thats true, but of course that's always been true. but whats changed now is the amount/kind of accountability for what people choose to do online. someone psychotic enough to throw all human consideration out the window and publish, let's say, Megs info online, do you know how many people, given access to that information, would want to look up her house on google maps, or send her fan mail to her house. or the smaller number who'd want to run into her in her neighborhood coffee shop? imagine what their Halloween trick-or-treaters would look like. and then now the world would know where gavin lives, a total bystander to this. the shitstorm that would unleash! they both are public figures - a model and a minor celebrity who been on billboards across the nation. it's not the fans at RT i'd be worried about. at that point it's not even the hackers i'd be worried about. the lack of accountability that was afforded to the hacker is now being amortized over every and any vaguely curious person on the internet. while you say there arent that many psychotic people in this world, it'd only take a single person with a single brick to scare them out of their house. morals can be cheap and bricks can be cheaper.
Whenever they said lizard, I just heard blizzard
But who will tell us when The Know gets DDOS'd?
B-lizard squad strikes back
