Too bad you didn't have Joel on this report. He'd be talking about how it's because the Yen and entire global economy are collapsing and turn it into a gold commercial and doomsday prep PSA.

Nintendo really needs to invest money and make a decent console. They always make those goofy wii like things that only have a really niche market and that are always less impressive then the playstation and the xbox. I think they don't really get that the glory time of handhelds is over since the rise of the smartphone. They also need more publishers for their consoles cause let's face it most of the games you play on Nintendo consoles and handhelds are sequels of games that are at least 20 years old.
To attract those publishers you need to have a good peace of hardware and not a console that's only known for rendering Mario and Zelda graphics. Although these are splendid games they won't keep Nintendo afloat.
