it's so disheartening to see one of your beloved franchise turn into a gambling gam
You know, Konami owns such a huge portion of my childhood. The first games I spent a lot of time playing were Metal Gear Solid, Silent Hill, Castlevania Symphony of the Night, Resident Evil, and Syphon Filter (sorry ESRB). If they spent even a tenth of their time not fucking up my (and many other people’s) childhood franchises they would be set for life. Well, at least no one has fucked up Syphon Filter. Yet.

From the time konami was young to now they've hired people who hired people who then hired people to ensure that the company would not fail. the top execs may be 'set for life' but to ensure the future of the company they've decided the future involves gambling. you may have enjoyed the best years of their video game life as a company but your grandkids will be making them more money than you ever did when they take that college vacation to vegas come 10-20 years
@GinjaNinja23 First of all, they probably aren’t going to sell those machines in the US and even if they did, I would call my children idiots for giving their money away to a machine that randomly decides if they win. At least in poker there is a strategy.
Second of all, contrary to their belief, the gaming industry is not dead. Bloodstained Ritual of the Night made $5.5 million on kickstarter and they drove the guy who did that out of their company.
Let us keep in mind, this is the same company that promoted the “Month of Madness” where they released THREE Silent Hill games in one month. One of those games, (the remastered collection of Silent Hill 2 and 3) was buggy, outright broken in some ways, and it looked like shit. Once again, they made a PS2 game look even worse. How? They backed off the fog which covered up the bad textures but did fix said textures. Also, the fog covered up the fact that the view distance for that game was about 10 feet in front of you. WIthout the fog there is a white wall 10 feet in front of you at all times. They also rerecorded voice acting and had to recreate code because they lost the original. They even issued a day 1 patch for a PS2 game.
Then you have the MGS HD Collection. I am a huge MGS fan and I would have bought it day one. Not only did they not market it but I never saw it in a store. I only saw it because Amazon recommended it to me. Later I went to Gamestop and they didn’t have it. The cashier didn’t even know it existed. Of course, that release wasn’t helped by the fact that they released it on the same day as Modern Warfare 3. Yeah, these guys definitely know how to market games.
There was another game called Blades of time (also released during the “Month of Madness”). They announced it 1 week before release and they announced availability 3 days after release. The lead designer even tried to find his game in stores the week of release but couldn’t, and it was not because of sales.
In other words, this is a company that has made mistake, after mistake, after mistake and you trust that they know what the hell they are doing? They have also shown themselves to be petty and vindictive. Removing Kojima’s name out of previous MGS games, denying the importance of Koji Igarashi to the Castlevannia series, cutting off Akira Yamaoka, kicking other iconic personalities and developers to the curb, blacklisting reviewers left, right, and center, and treating their employees like shit. Why the hell should I trust that they know what they are doing?
They have the right to go to hell in their own particular fashion. That doesn’t mean I have to be nice to them.

My point wasn't whether they know what they're doing or not, my point was that they're in the business of making money, not video games.
@GinjaNinja23 If they are idiots then they are not going to make money for long. A company that cannot even market its own product properly and drives away its best talent will not be making money from my grandkids.
And once again, they have the right to go to hell in their own fashion. That doesn’t mean I have to be nice to them. Konami is led by people who do not know what they are doing, executives who have lead petty and vindictive grudges against their own talent, and people who have eroded and tainted the trust and goodwill of their consumers. None of that is worthy of a shrug but taken together it is the sign of a company led by dicks and fools. I see no reason not to give them every bit of bad PR they deserve.

In the middle of this story I had to google Pachinko machine, I just call it a Time Crisis game

I'm confused. Why would they make a Pachinko machine?
Ok, but let's see how much revenue the pachinko machines make in the next 2-3 years vs how much the latest metal gear title makes and then get back to questioning why the company "sold out" with bs youtube algorithms.
somehow, i feel like the fact that not only is it a MGS3 pachinko machine, but a MGS3 one made USING THE FOX ENGINE for the visuals when a snake eater remake in the new engine would probably destroy the world in terms of things people would love makes it just that much worse... i can't help but think that much spite was intentional and cannot be done by accident.
