Oh..... Adam.....
I think that if they do announce Red Dead Redemption 2, they will probably do the same as with Fallout 4, and include RDR 1 for free for anyone who pre orders it. Making it an even bigger incentive for anyone who didn't get the original game to buy the sequel, but definitely not an exclusive.
Part of me wants them to release RDR BC at the announcement. That multiplayer is something fallout never had that could tie up people for 5-6 months.
Are you fucking kidding me, Microsoft?
You're making ports?!
What the fuck, just make an emulator. You made the Xbox 360. you still have the documentation and knowledge and stuff. It's not like you'll have that much trouble making one like people who try to make emulators without the actual code and hardware specs.
BC is an emulator.
An emulator would work with all games out of the box though. After proper testing of course. BUT! They're bringing games by batches and they just said in the video that when you put the disc in your Xbox One it will allow you to download the [Xbox One version of the] game rather than playing the game from the disc itself. Emulators can play games directly from the discs usually (PCSX2 is able to play PS2 discs on PC)
It is a 360 emulator. This explains it better than I can: http://www.gamespot.com/articles/revealed-how-xbox... I've never seen an emulator that works with all games. Even PCSX2 admits that only 94% of tested games run and that doesn't include the enormous amount of bugs and complications that happen in the games that do run. Each game will run differently on the emulation and they want the games to play like they did on the 360 so they have to test and fix problems that come up on every individual game. If it were as easy as "just make an emulator" then Microsoft and Sony would have had full BC by now.
I blame Lawrence, then (or whoever wrote the script/text for this episode). I was confused because they said you download the game when actually it's just a wrapper that acknowledges that the game can work/has been approved on the 360 emulator. That's actually good news. It means they're testing most games before giving them functionality. I say most because they could only be checking some and assuming that other games are using the same version of the code to talk to the machine. Which means that they have to go through testing of at least a couple of games that came out for every version of the firmware.
As for PCSX2 not working with all games that's because the people making it are not Sony and don't have the source code of the firmware to make it work. It's understandable that they're limited in terms of production. I was mad at Microsoft because they can pour money into that feature and if they make it work properly, people will start buying the XOnes if they don't have to rely on the old gen anymore. If they were making ports, it would be much more of a money sink. And then, they would complain that having a gaming division would be a waste of cash as they have said in the past.

It could also be a Games With Gold title in the future. They said that all games that will be on GWG will be backwards compatible from now on. I'd say another 2 months or so at the latest before we do get more information on what's really happening with those titles
