I really tried to love this game, but i couldn't fool myself for long.
I played it for one weekend, got about 15 hours in and I haven't gone back. Even so, I have no desire to get a refund. I think the game has potential. Kind of like a really expensive Early Access title, Ill be interested to see where the future of this game goes. Or laugh when the whole thing dies a slow death and I go back to playing Space Engineers.
No Mans Sky takes a lot longer to delve into fully to get a feel for the game. Many people played the game for hours searching for a reason to play. It took me 5 hours ( more like 3 since it took me 2 hours to get the game working) to fully realize that this game had nothing to offer to me personally and by then it was officially too late to get a refund. I know they can't extend refund periods for games willy nilly, as that would compromise developer confidence of the platform, but I can't help but feel like I got shafted.
Valve/Steam didn't say specifically that they wouldn't issue a refund if it falls outside of the 14 day/2 hour window. The simply stated that they will offer a refund for any reason if you're inside those two constraints which means that regardless of the legitimacy of stated reason, they'll do it. If you're not inside that window then the ability to do it is there, but you have to have a fully legitimate reason which they will review and determine for themselves if they should offer a refund. And in this case, a lot of people probably didn't have any good reason other than "I'm gonna try it." Since it was so universally hated, I'm sure they're making an exception for this game.
I came to this game with an open mind ( I hadn't really seen a whole lot on it, so there wasn't a massive dissapointment as others have felt ). It's definitely not great, the game itself has filled a void for me at the moment, since I've started to play games for a wind down exercise after work.
It yields the same effect as playing WoW does, in the senseless and mind numbing wandering and killing / collecting stuff. It also lets me catch up on podcasts and what not at the same time.
I guess different strokes for different folks? As a exploration / resource collecting game it's pretty decent. There's just not much point in doing any of it after a while.
I think It's absolutely fair. Why steam didn't take it off the store is a complete mystery. Even the trailers on steam are misleading...
They played for 70-80 hours. It is not fair at all.
It's totally fair, are you telling me people were ok with Arkham Knight on Steam?
The old saying of buyer beware.
Alright so I got a problem with the video and has nothing to do with No man's sky, Who the FUCK buys a whole new watch for every occasion? What kind of rich assholes do they think we are?! I've literally had the same little $20 sports watch for the last 2 years, and has been able to perfectly show me the time AND lets me put timers/alarms/the temperature(?!) and time zones in other places that i never use, but its there lol. Anyways I hate how pretentious MVMT is, sure must be great getting those free watches though huh.
A lot of people do. I have 5 watches personally. 3 casual, 2 gifted ones which are really big and I don't like big, but they look nice displaey on the dresser. I would have more if they were not expensive. I like the watch look, but more interesting is how much is going on in such a small device.
Dude, relax, smoke a bowl or take a Xanax, watches are more for fashion these days....I havent worn a watch since I first got a cell phone.
Ironically enough I did smoke a bowl afterwards lol
As someone who has never played the game before and has no idea how people usually pace themselves, I'd say it might take like 5 hours to know for sure if you like it or not. The reason I say this is because people might grind through the early parts of the game thinking that it might get more fun after they do this thing or find that one special planet. Definitely people who have played over 10 hours should not get refunds.
was it that bad
Honestly, I spent 6 hours playing and then I uninstalled. What killed me wasn't the lack of planet variety, but the fact the alien species have basically no culture outside of what you're told. I was maybe hoping each alien race would at least have a unique flavor to their buildings and monuments (I don't think that's too much to ask since it is only four alien races total and their ships have some). While I wouldn't ask for a refund, I wouldn't mind perhaps some sort of used games system, maybe steam gives me a small bit of cash in my steam wallet and then sells a set number of copies at a reduced price. Pipe dream I know, but it would be nice to have some recourse outside a cluttered library or trying to get refunds and likely failing.
I played it for 7 hours for the first week it was out on pc out. but 4 of which were at about 20 fps and i have not touched it sense
